Bye bye, ciao and au revoir! Summer School with ADE students reaches a successful end

Over the past three weeks, five students from ADE partner universities in Italy and France were guests at the Summer School at Media University Berlin. In creative workshops, inspiring photo walks and informative lectures, the students got to know the university and the colorful life of the capital - and produced their own "Berlin Story".

How does good storytelling work and how to edit photos and video footage? Right at the beginning, the guest students received an extensive introduction to working with the camera from lecturers Jost Listemann and Felix von Stutterheim. In four sessions, design professor Jenny Bergström introduced them to other creative techniques. Rector Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dieter Schulz gave a lecture on what designers should know about binary codes.

After the workshops and lectures, the students went to Berlin's hotspots: Starting at Brandenburg Gate and the government district, the students visited numerous cultural sites such as the temporary gallery in the legendary Club Berghain, the German Cinematheque at Potsdamer Platz and the East Side Gallery near Oberbaumbrücke. In addition, together with professor and photographer Nora Bibel, they explored turbulent and multicultural Kreuzberg on a photowalk and had the opportunity to gain a queer perspective on modern fashion photography at the lecture by photographer and university staff member Jörg Brunsendorf.

But what would a Summer School be without the chance to really enjoy summer? There was plenty of time for that, too, for example during stand-up paddling on Schlachtensee, a cocktail walk around the neighborhood on Warschauer Straße, or a beach volleyball match at the beach bar Beach Mitte. The five students have now returned to France and Italy with a suitcase full of new impressions and their very own Berlin experiences. We would be very happy to welcome them back to Berlin again. Take care! Bye bye, ciao and au revoir!
