First of all, congratulations on the Deutschlandstipendium! How did you hear about it and what made you decide to apply?
I discovered the scholarship on the website and was additionally informed about it through a circular email. It was my wish to finance my master's degree as independently as possible. Of course, this is also due to the part-time job I have, but that was my incentive to apply.
When the call came from the university administration, I initially thought it was a solicitation call because I didn't know the number and wasn't expecting the call. "We have some good news for you," said Prof. Dr. Freytag. It took a short while before I actually understood that I had been selected for the Deutschlandstipendium. When I finally realized it, I was all the more pleased.
What are you studying and how do you spend your free time?
I'm studying Public Relations and Digital Marketing in my 3rd semester at the campus in Frankfurt. But I actually live in Pirmasens and work there as a student trainee at the company "framas", which manufactures plastic components in the shoe sector. At framas, I work in the Media + Communication department. Among other things, I am responsible for the intranet, write texts for it and also take care of public relations and write (press) articles, for example.
In my free time, I volunteer with the Rotarians and have been president of the Rotaract youth organization in Pirmasens since this year. For example, we organize campaigns for children, such as this year's Christmas campaign, in which we fulfill the Christmas wishes of disadvantaged children.
Do you already know what you'll be writing your master's thesis on?
I would like to write my master's thesis at the company where I am currently working as a student trainee. I'd like it to be about something that helps the company and adds value. I still have some time, but I could well imagine writing about the topic of sustainability or internal communication.
So what's the next step after you've finished your master's degree?
I can well imagine staying with the current company, but of course everything is still open. I'm very much looking forward to really getting started in working life after I graduate. At the moment, of course, I'm only working alongside my studies, which means I often don't have time to take on larger projects that I'd like to work on. For this reason, I'm all the more looking forward to finally getting started.
