Hello Christy! Tell us about yourself briefly. Where are you from? What did you do before your Master’s degree?
Hello, my name is Christy Ioannidou. I am 27 years old and I come from Greece. I have graduated from the School of Film Studies in the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Today I run my own photography and videography studio in Greece. At the same time, I decided to expand my knowledge through studying on the MA Communication Design at HMKW in Berlin.
Why did you choose to study at HMKW and why this program?
I decided to study on this program because it combines the field of marketing with visual communication and aesthetic production, which will help me obtain positions such as that of Creative Director or Art Director later on. Studying at HMKW, you have the opportunity to deal with real-life agency projects and always work on getting better through trial and error.
What do you like about studying in Berlin?
There are many advantages of studying in Berlin. Berlin is a multicultural city, so you have the opportunity to meet people from different cultures, to see new points of view or totally different approaches to your own. Also, Berlin is a big city with many startup companies, which means that there are many job opportunities for graduates and talented young people. Finally, in Berlin you get to see exhibitions, museums and concerts that are attractive to every creative person!
How would you describe your experience at HMKW so far?
With the help of my professors at HMKW, I had the chance to develop projects applying a different way of thinking to the one I was used to. I have also learned to exhaust all the possibilities in order to succeed with the perfect result.
What do you hope to gain from your degree? What are you planning to do after you graduate?
After finishing my studies at HMKW, I would expect to have gained the necessary knowledge to equip me to become a successful Art Director in the European market – and as far as I can see, I'm on a good path!
Thank you for talking to us and all the best for your degree, Christy!
