Dr. Philipp Budka is a Lecturer in the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna, and the M.A. program Visual and Media Anthropology at HMKW Berlin. His research areas include digital anthropology and ethnography, the anthropology of media, technology, and infrastructure as well as visual anthropology. He is a founding member and co-convenor of the Media Anthropology Network of the European Association of Social Anthropologists and a member of the research group Visual Studies in the Social Sciences at the University of Vienna. 

Philipp is editor of Theorising Media and Conflict (2020, Berghahn Books, with B. Bräuchler) and Ritualisierung – Mediatisierung – Performance (2019, Vienna University Press, with M. Luger and F. Graf). His research has also been published in journals and books such as Journal des AnthropologuesCanadian Journal of Communication,Ethnic Media in the Digital Age (2019, Routledge) and Connecting Canadians: Investigations in community informatics (2012, Athabasca University Press).
