Berlin insiders have known it for a long time: Wedding is the place to be. Now it's official: The famous magazine Time Out has nominated the district around Osloer Straße, Gesundbrunnen and Leopoldplatz as one of the 40 coolest neighborhoods in the world.
The start of a new, initially hybrid semester: The matriculation ceremony for the winter semester 2020/21 took place recently at the three branches Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt (Main) on site and online via livestream. The university management welcomed the prospective new students and gave a preview of the new semester, most of which will probably take place online.

With immediate effect HMKW joins the university network of the French group AD Education. ADE is an association of French, Italian and Spanish universities with a total of more than 15,000 students.
This year HMKW took part in the renowned Europe Teaching Survey for the first time and scored above average in the survey. The independent British organization Times Higher Education (THE) in London conducts the international study once a year at universities throughout Europe. The THE comparison tables are among the most important and most respected rankings of the international university world.

On June 17th and 18th, about 35 Master students of HMKW Berlin and Cologne, accompanied by their professors Dr. Ingo Knuth and Dr. Boris Alexander Becker, went on a virtual field trip to the Cities of Hamburg and Cologne.
Data protection has been a highly topical and much-discussed issue at least since the launch of the Corona-Warn-App. On 25 June 2020, Dr. Volker Wodianka visited lecturer Sophie Carls in the lecture "Digital Economy" and spoke with the students about data protection in the digital world.
On June 22, 2020, the internationally renowned photographer and author Maria Schiffer was a guest speaker in the lecture "Interculturalism" at the HMKW Berlin, where she visited lecturer Sophie Carls to present her story cookbook "EATING WITH AFRICA", published by DK-Verlag.
Students of B.A. Media and Event Management have launched three more creative online events under the direction of Prof. Dr. Lorenz Pöllmann. Whether it's a wild rave party, a strengthening home workout or an inspiring cooking show - the events will take place this week and are free of charge for all HMKW students.
