With her studies in Game Design and Interactive Media, Chelsea Gröper is already a big step closer to her dream of working in the games industry one day. In this interview, we asked her about her favorite courses so far, her experiences at HMKW Berlin, and her personal recommendations for prospective students.
Over the past three weeks, five students from ADE partner universities in Italy and France were guests at the Summer School at HMKW Berlin. In creative workshops, inspiring photo walks and informative lectures, the students got to know the university and the colorful life of the capital - and produced their own "Berlin Story".

The days of being all alone in front of the screen at home are over for now: Last Friday, the Department of Design presented selected works by students and graduates in the Kreuzberg gallery CLB under the slogan #UNMUTE. In addition, the alumni celebrated their graduation and said goodbye to their fellow students and lecturers.
On Tuesday, Cornelius Hummel shared with Prof. Rasmus Giesel's branding course a variety of insights into his work at MetaDesign, a renowned agency for brand strategies based in Berlin (and with six other branches in New York, Beijing and Zurich, among others). In a playful manner, he explained his working methods and gave exemplary insights into branding projects that have already been completed and those that are still in progress.

Storytelling is not only essential in film or literature. The ability to create stories is also becoming increasingly important for designers. Maike Gosch, who has been working as a storytelling consultant for well-known companies, political parties and NGOs for many years, gave our communication designers a small workshop this week as part of the MA Brand Strategy course with numerous practical tips for upcoming practical projects.
Last Friday, the online conference DE SIGN RE SEARCH has been all about current topics and trends in visual communication. Bachelor and master students of HMKW Berlin presented their self-selected research topics in short presentations and discussed, among other things, with multimodality expert Jana Pflaeging from the University of Salzburg about design that not only conveys a clear aesthetic, but also carries a message.
