Over the past three weeks, five students from ADE partner universities in Italy and France were guests at the Summer School at HMKW Berlin. In creative workshops, inspiring photo walks and informative lectures, the students got to know the university and the colorful life of the capital - and produced their own "Berlin Story".
Finally reconnecting with people, finally interacting without Zoom & Co. again! The days of being all alone in front of the screen at home are over for now: Last Friday, the Department of Design presented selected works by students and graduates in the Kreuzberg gallery CLB under the slogan #UNMUTE. In addition, the alumni celebrated their graduation and said goodbye to their fellow students and lecturers.
On Tuesday, Cornelius Hummel shared with Prof. Rasmus Giesel's branding course a variety of insights into his work at MetaDesign, a renowned agency for brand strategies based in Berlin (and with six other branches in New York, Beijing and Zurich, among others). In a playful manner, he explained his working methods and gave exemplary insights into branding projects that have already been completed and those that are still in progress.

Due to the positive response and large number of participants in the past, HMKW is again offering its online event series "Summer Lectures" this summer. In the free trial lectures, prospective students can get a taste of topics from the fields of design, journalism and communication, psychology and management.
How do ice cream and social activism go together? The American company Ben & Jerry's has wanted to help shape social debate and change ever since it was founded in the late 1970s. Today, in the course "Strategic Communication" by Prof. Dr. Kim Murphy, students of the M.A. Public Relations and Digital Marketing got to know Nils Knoop, who works as Integrated Marketing & Communications Manager for Ben & Jerry's in the DACH region.
Storytelling is not only essential in film or literature. The ability to create stories is also becoming increasingly important for designers. Maike Gosch, who has been working as a storytelling consultant for well-known companies, political parties and NGOs for many years, gave our communication designers a small workshop this week as part of the MA Brand Strategy course with numerous practical tips for upcoming practical projects.
