The start of a new, initially hybrid semester: The matriculation ceremony for the winter semester 2020/21 took place recently at the three branches Berlin, Cologne and Frankfurt (Main) on site and online via livestream. The university management welcomed the prospective new students and gave a preview of the new semester, most of which will probably take place online.
Whether online matriculation ceremonies, lectures via zoom or the virtual semester shows of the Department of Design: The past semester at the HMKW has not only confronted the students but also the university with unusual but also exciting challenges. Here we have a look back on this semester, which was extraordinary in every respect.
The European Association for Aviation Psychology (EAAP) is organizing a virtual workshop week from September 28 to October 2, 2020. HMKW has taken over a sponsorship for the online event and provides several zoom rooms for the webinar. Furthermore, the university cordially invites all students to participate in the event free of charge.
This year HMKW took part in the renowned Europe Teaching Survey for the first time and scored above average in the survey. The independent British organization Times Higher Education (THE) in London conducts the international study once a year at universities throughout Europe. The THE comparison tables are among the most important and most respected rankings of the international university world.
In its second show, our Talent Campus_Video team reveals refreshing tips for a wonderful summer in Berlin. Furthermore, the show features cult Berliner Günther Krabbenhöft, who gives insights into his philosophy of life and spreads posive energy all around the TV studio. A must see!
On June 17th and 18th, about 35 Master students of HMKW Berlin and Cologne, accompanied by their professors Dr. Ingo Knuth and Dr. Boris Alexander Becker, went on a virtual field trip to the Cities of Hamburg and Cologne.
According to HMKW lecturer Ramzi Fatfouta and Yulia Oganian from the University of California, mouth and nose covers, as they are currently worn, have a considerable influence on decisions in negotiation situations. In their preprint of the study, they have published the first astonishing results on this new phenomenon.
Creativity knows no boundaries: Despite lockdown and quarantine blues, our graphic and communication designers have been bubbling over with ideas this semester. The most outstanding works and projects were shown at the virtual exhibition of HMKW Berlin, which took place on Friday via Zoom.
Project week with a difference: This semester, students of the Department of Psychology will re-enact, conduct and evaluate three classic psychological experiments - in Second Life instead of on the real campus.
