In the course of digitalization and the omnipresence of social media, a number of new fields of activity have emerged at the intersection between public relations, marketing and corporate communication. Thus, it becomes vital to represent these trends within the academic educational context and enable students to take part in shaping today’s ever-changing world of digital media.
As of winter term 2018, HMKW will be offering a study program that perfectly prepares graduates for their future careers in these new areas of communication. M.A. Public Relations and Digital Marketing will be the first international course in Europe that specifically links PR with digital marketing. The curriculum includes, for example, crisis communication, internal communication, PR writing, media planning, social media marketing and consumer behavior.
Graduates can apply their knowledge in a variety of fields and industries. It is possible to specialize in corporate communication or works for an NGO, a political organization, or in the public sector.
At campus Berlin, the program will be taught in English (just as all M.A. courses at our Berlin campus); the teaching language at HMKW Cologne is German. Regardless, it is optional to write one’s master thesis in either German or English at any HMKW campus. The same applies to exams.
